For my final project, I was at a loss for what to write about. I was unsure what I could get so in depth about at such a local level. I humored writing about my fraternity, doing a puff piece about on campus dining, or talking about the interplay between the university and the immediate community. However, I came to a far more passionate and, in hindsight, more obvious conclusion.
I chose to write about the Music Industry department, as that was my major at this university. I have spent four years watching the changes, adapting to the new teaching styles, jumping at every opportunity they’ve given me. The department has drastically changed to fit the new era of music in the 21st century, adding new faculty, equipment, and events to bolster our placement in the nation as a top industry program.
It seems only fitting to me that for my final project in my undergrad studies, I would be writing about and reflecting upon the incredible growth in my department. It is difficult to overstate the degree to which this department has changed, and the extent to which it is now flourishing.
I decided to write this feature to inform whosoever wishes to enter the program in the future that they are in good hands, and that their future is secure within this unbelievable network being cultivated in this program.
